A Sunshiney Baby Shower

So, for the few of you that may not know.. my wittle sister is having a baby! So me and my very best friend, Faye, put together a sunshine filled baby shower for her. Faye offered up her beautiful house for this party and i’m so grateful for that. Her home is full of beautiful light and its perfect to have parties in. We poured our whole hearts into this shower, as you’ll be able to tell from all the details. Mandy is planning a “you are my sunshine” type of nursery, all yellows and greys. So we took that theme and ran with it. We checked out mandy’s favorites folder on etsy and scoured her registry to see the things she’s been eyeing and tried to put our own spin on things. Faye and i love to host parties and this one was one of the more fun ones we’ve put together..it was fun to see all the details come together so nicely. Here’s mandy’s “you are my sunshine” baby shower!

Faye found cute little chalkboard signs at hobby lobby that we put to good use (ps isnt fayes front door FAB?!):

this is in faye’s entry way, how perfect is that dresser turned desk/foyer table.. yeah faye painted and finished that herself, she’s amazing.. but i digress.. that yellow and gray lamp on the right faye painted and put together for mandy.. mandy had registered for a lampshade similar to that but it turned out it was tiny, for a small desk lamp and wasnt going to work w the lamp faye had ready, so faye went out and bought a lampshade that would work and painted it the way mandy wanted! so on this table we had the guest book and the favors.

One of my favorite elements of this shower were the favors.. the tags say “From Mandy’s shower to yours”. i’m a HUGE fan of body scrubs, sugar scrubs, salt scrubs, strawberry seed scrubs, whatever. and they’re always pretty expensive. so i decided to make some, jar it up and put pretty fabric on top. i searched all over for shower scrub recipes and just tweaked them to make one i really liked. I’ll save that for another post sometime. But apparently it was a hit. i got text messages the next day saying how amazing it was. YAY!

for mandy’s guest book, i found this book called “Mom Candy” which is a book of quotes and advice from moms. The sign says: Lets help Mandy remember this special day by personalizing this book, “Mom Candy”. Please add your own words of wisdom, or find a quote that you think is the funniest or most insightful, and write why. Dont forget to sign your name. Thank you for helping to make a treasured keepsake for mandy and baby.

and for the other favors, i wrapped candy bars in doilies and ribbon. everyone loves chocolate and i thought it was a fun way to thank people for coming. plus i found those cute little onsie stickers and had to use them on something! and faye found this basket and spraypainted it the perfect yellow color, hoping mandy could put it to use in the nursery.

this is one of my favorite things from the baby shower. faye found all these pieces and painted them the perfect colors and put it all together for baby H’s room. i think its absolutely lovely. awesome work faye!

i got this playdoh baby game idea from the shower Emily threw for Megan:

fayes amazingness at work again. Faye’s been making diaper cakes since before the days of etsy and pinterest.. i’d actually never seen one until faye mentioned she’d make one for me to give to a friend years ago. since then they are all the rage and perfect as a decor/gift item at a shower.. but let me assure you, that is not where we got the idea.

our food spread, isnt it pretty?

world’s tiniest salads:

faye and i are kind of known for making cake pops for parties and events.. we’ve done a lot of amazing and fun and pretty ones.. we had a really hard time with this batch tho, i’m not gonna lie.. we think its because of the brand of chocolate we used (we wont be making that mistake again). but they came out kind of cute and i was told they were delicious so, thats all the matters.. i just loved these little baby faces and thought they would be perfect for the baby shower when i saw them on Bakerella’s website

Faye had the amazing idea to do an ombre cake.. i thought it was a great idea (most of faye’s ideas are just that, great!) So i left that to her ( i was making cooking and lemon bars) We ended up frosting it at about midnight the night before the shower and we were pretty delirious. we keep saying it was made with love and to not judge it too harshly. i really do love how it turned out, but as with most things that faye and i do, we found some ways we will do it better next time.
