I'm jenny (obvi) and i'm so happy you're here. i am a portrait and wedding photographer in columbus, ohio. my absolute favorite thing to photograph is love. couples in love, new mommies and daddies in love with their newest bundle of joy, brides and grooms in love about to walk down the aisle. anything involving love. who doesnt love love, right?

    here on the blog you'll find some of my favorite images from recent sessions and weddings of my clients, family and friends. you'll also probably find some personal posts from our large family get togethers or cute pictures of my dogs. because i love my dogs. a lot.

I have been waiting to shoot mandy and nicks maternity session since mandy told me and my mom in APRIL that they were expecting. I knew i wanted to do it in the fall and just hoped that belly bump would pop out in time. I knew they’d be fun to photograph as they are beautiful people and their engagement session was one of my favorites ever. Yes they just got married last year and are expecting baby Hoyng before their first anniversary, they are on the fast track! I so cannot wait to meet this newest niece or nephew of mine (they aren’t finding out and its killing auntie jenny!). The little peanut will be here in december so be sure to check back for images of the newest member of our family around the holidays!

 

Yeah, she’s pretty..they came up to columbus to spend the weekend with us so we split one long session into two shorter sessions to take advantage of both the evening light at one park and the morning light at another park.. these early morning images are my faves.
can’t really even tell she’s preggo here, it barely qualifies as a maternity shot. But they wanted an image with their first baby boy, Jackson. He was such a good boy this morning, so cooperative!this is my fave, fave, FAVE!me and my sissy.. we are night and day in the looks department but i love her so. as you can see i’m WAY excited for this baby!

how they met, as told my mandy: We met at Nicks ten year high school reunion in Beavercreek. We didn’t know each other in high school….Didn’t exchange numbers, nick just high fived me as I was the bartender at this event.

One week later, me and my friend Heidi were out at a bar in Cincinnati after a miller lite bengals promo.. And ran into Nick at a bar. Nick didn’t let me leave the bar without exchanging numbers and we’ve been talking ever since..

The Crosses are no strangers to this blog. I’ve done their family photography a few times. You can see them here, here, and here. Andrew turned 6 months old just in time for the beauty that is fall in the midwest. He was equal parts smiley and fussy for this session, as all babies tend to be. But when he flashes that big gummy smile at you, you forget about all the fussiness. He really is such a happy baby, and you can tell mom and dad are pretty obsessed with him.

the whole first part of the session, baby andy kept looking back at me and smiling, even when mom and dad were doing their best to make him look at them. i felt pretty special. hahahe definitely looooooovvvvvvessssss his mommy!the beautiful claire bear! ps her birthday was yesterday!! hope you had a fab day CB!i had to include this. so funny. his pants were just a tad to big and all the bouncing around finally made them fall down. it was hilarious. and i’ve had a lot of people tell me that they like it when i include images that ‘keep it real’ so to speak (with crying infants and fingers in noses, lol) so i had to post this. plus claire’s face is priceless.

Meet the Beck family. This is the first time they’ve been on my blog and i couldnt be happier to introduce them. I have known matt since we were in elementary school, dare i say, early as kindergarten? Something like that, so we’ve known each other a long time. we just about lived on the same street as we were growing up so we were always on the same bus and thing. Fast forward a few years, Joah looks so much like matt did when we were little, with plenty of his mama’s good looks too! I was so thrilled when Miriah emailed me about doing their family photography. Since i knew matt and followed his running career (he’s pretty inspiring by the way), i eventually connected with Miriah on social media too and saw that she was a runner too, a little more on my level. While its always fun to interact online, its way cooler to meet in person. i loved miriah instantly, her smile is infectious… its no wonder joah’s is the same. He was a little shy when we all first met, but it wasn’t long before he warmed up and we were laughing with the best of them. My cheeks seriously hurt driving away from this session from laughing and smiling so hard. we had so. much. fun.

who doesnt love a good swing from their parents? such a little cuddlebug!

and i know you cant tell from these photos but i found out shortly before this session that Miriah is expecting!! They are due in april and i have no doubt that this kid will be ADORBS! Congrats again, friends! Thanks to you guys so much for trusting me with your family photos! I had a blast and i hope we do it again!

how they met: We met at work, while playing softball. He asked me on a date and I said yes… The rest is history I guess.

a favorite memory from Joah’s life so far:

There are so many… he’s such a funny kid! My favorite memory is the first time i saw him and we cuddled. He was just perfect! (Miriah)

When Joah was an infant, he would always get cranky at the same time in the morning and need to take an early nap.  So, I would start to rock him and I’d turn on VH1 to listen to the top 20 countdown.  He would always, ALWAYS, fall asleep to the same song, “Second Chance” by Shinedown.  Who knew Shinedown sang lullabies? (Matt)

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this family a few times now and i have LOVED watching little Will grow. He captured my heart the minute i met him last year. You can just tell how smitten his parents are as well. I absolutely adore this family and hope i continue to photograph then in years to come. his sweet smile and those big baby blues of his.. i melt every time. Check out Will’s 6 month session HERE.

tickle time!whats NOT funny about a finger in the nose.. lolwith family photography sessions, i try to remember to take a few of just mom and dad.. and lynn asked for a couple of her and tom by themselves.. this is one of my faves from the whole session!towards the end of the session there was a blimp flying over our heads.. when it comes down to me and a blimp, there was no competition. Will barely looked at me anymore after the thing showed up. its ok, Will, i totally get it.haha and this is how we knew we were done. Will had had enough and he definitely let us know!

So i had another birthday…

As most of you know by now, my birthday was this passed Sunday. and as many of you know, i love my birthday. i love to celebrate my birthday as long as i can. this year most certainly didnt disappoint. My fabulous husband told me at the beginning of last week that he had planned a surprise for friday night, kicking off my birthday weekend right. He had arranged with our good friends Claire and Brycen to get tickets for the Reds game, stay at a swanky hotel and gamble the night away at the new casino in cinci. I was so excited. We havent been to a Reds game since last August. and i LOVE going to baseball games. (my favorite part: a ballpark hotdog. no hotdog is better than a ballpark dog. but i digress)  The reds lost unfortunately but in the company of some of my favorite people, we continued to have way too much fun that night.

the next morning was a little rough as we all stayed up wayyyyyyyy past our bedtimes. But we got up, had a delish breakfast and headed back home. I had day 2 of celebrating that night! thanks again claire bear and b-money, we had so much fun with you guys!!Fast forward to saturday night and it was cocktails and pics before dinner. then watching the buckeyes dominate and more cocktails after dinner. now, a little backstory.. my friend meg and i have the same birthday. and we both love to celebrate it. so we decided to do it in style. here’s meg and her handsome hubs:and of course me and my handsome hubs..birthday girls!girls just wanna have fun, right? well, we did that night!CHEERS!my amazing JJ got us the most delish birthday cake! Its from Crumbz Cakery in Hilliard and it was amazing. If you need a cake, i definitely recommend them!  The next day was my actual birthday and i woke up to another amazing present from JJ.. i’m so in love with this ring. i’m never taking it off. then it was time to  head home to beavercreek and celebrate with the family. my moms birthday is just 3 days before mine so we had a joint celebrations.. and my mom got us a DELICIOUS cake too!!! and i wonder why i cant lose this weight! hahaha i cant give up cake!!and once again, we dont have a full family photo, my sister and her husband were on vacation (i see how it is, miss my birthday for the beach ;-P) so we have two incomplete family photos, one w justin and dani, and one with brad, both without mandy. hahamy favorite part about this photo is little Lo lo’s face (she’s on the far left in the purple). and rae rae is totally blurring bc she was squirming to get away from me.i love this pic. my photo bombing little brother. the cake frosting on lo lo’s face.. and her sweet little smile. and of course.. my amazing amazing husband.. thanks so much love for making my birthday more than i could have ever hoped for. i love you more than you know. xx
